by Zheng Wen, M.S. Washington State University August 2007 Co-Chairs: Ali Saberi and Sandip Roy This thesis is motivated by the need to better understand the analysis and control of linear systems subject to constraints. We contribute to this field by pursuing research on two specific topics: 1) the external stability of linear systems subject to actuator saturation, and 2) the security of Communicating-Agent Networks (CANs). For the first topic, we study the disturbance responses of some canonical systems as the step toward better understanding of external stability of nonlinear systems. Specifically, for a saturating feedback-controlled double integrator, we delineate classes of (deterministic) disturbances that do and do not drive the state unbounded; further, for a saturating feedback-controlled single integrator driven by white noise, we fully characterize the evolution of the state’s probability distribution. For the second topic, we motivate and formulate concepts of security in the context of CANs, and present some preliminary results for two classical CANs: the Single-Integrator Network and the Double-Integrator Network.

Robust Adaptive Attitude Stabilization of a Fighter Aircraft in the Presence of Input Constraints
The problem of attitude stabilization of a fighter aircraft is investigated in this paper. The practical aspects of a real physical system like existence of external disturbance with unknown upper bound and actuator saturation are considered in the process of controller design of this aircraft. In order to design a robust autopilot in the presence of the actuator saturation, the Composite Nonli...

This paper is concerned with the problem of design and implementation a robust adaptive control strategy for flexible joint electrically driven robots (FJEDR), while considering to the constraints on the actuator voltage input. The control design procedure is based on function approximation technique, to avoid saturation besides being robust against both structured and unstructured uncertaintie...

In this paper, the problem of fractional order multi-agent tracking control problem is considered. External disturbances, uncertainties, error constraints, transient response suitability and desirable response tracking problems are the challenges in this study. Because of these problems and challenges, an adaptive control and neural estimator approaches are used in this study. In the first part...

In this paper, an efficient method is presented to control the attitude of a satellite with ON-OFF actuator. The main objective of this novel method is to control the amplitude of the limit cycle which commonly appears in the steady state of such systems; and at the same time by consideration of real actuator constraints, reduce the fuel consumption of system. The Proposed method is a combinati...
متن کاملInterdependent Security Game Design over Constrained Linear Influence Networks
In today's highly interconnected networks, security of the entities are often interdependent. This means security decisions of the agents are not only influenced by their own costs and constraints, but also are affected by their neighbors’ decisions. Game theory provides a rich set of tools to analyze such influence networks. In the game model, players try to maximize their utilities through se...
